Vegas style boxing action returns to Northwest Indiana on Saturday, April 19, when NABC junior welterweight champion “Merciless” Mary McGee (13-0, 7 KOs) of Gary puts her perfect record on the line in the main event of the “Majestic Rumble” at the Majestic Star Casino & Hotel in Gary, IN. Presented by Octavius James’ One In A Million Inc., Majestic Star’s beautifully appointed entertainment pavilion provides fans with an intimate setting making every fan feel like they’re sitting VIP ringside.
A limited number of tickets for the six-bout card are available to the public. Priced at $100 VIP, $50 ringside and $30 general admission, tickets are available from any Ticket Master location at (312/559-1212), (219/791-1234) or www.TicketMaster.com.
Last October, 21-year-old McGee won her first championship, the NABC light welterweight title, with an eighth round knock out over veteran Tawnyah Freeman. The first and only female boxing champion from the Steel City, McGee faces an opponent to be announced shortly.
Since turning professional just six months ago, Hobart native Ed Ochoa (3-0 3 KOs) has stepped into the squared circle three times and won each bout by knock out. On April 19, Ochoa looks to keep his perfect record in order by winning a four round welterweight bout. Ochoa has proven tremendously popular with area fans and, with each bout, his fan base continues to grow.
Light heavyweight Jimmy Perez Jr. (2-0, 1 KO), one of the region’s most popular fighters, returns to the scene of the crime to rebound from the shocking loss he suffered in December at Majestic Star. Perez, a Hammond native, will face an opponent tba.
Heavyweight Mike Parker (5-0, 4 KOs) is anxious to return to the ring after having been sidelined with an injury. Of his five professional bouts, Parker has won four by knock out. Fight fans love the big punching heavyweights and on April 19, Parker plans to put on a show in a four round bout against an opponent tba.
One In A Million’s exciting new welterweight prospect, Marcus Thompson (1-0), returns after winning his professional debut in November on One In A Million’s “Showdown” card. Thompson, who had an amateur record of about 44-6, showed real skill and potential in his debut and looks to build on that experience with another win against an opponent tba.
Rounding out the card, Oswaldo Lopez of Michiocan, Mexico will make his professional debut at super featherweight.
Majestic Star Casino is located at One Buffington Harbor in Gary, IN.
Doors to this event open at 7 p.m. First bout at 8 p.m.
