Vally Fight Clubs Come Together For Explosive Night of Fights!

ByBoxing Press 02/05/2008

A thrilling night of boxing action is coming to the Pierce College Basketball Gym in Woodland Hills, CA, on Friday, June 13th, 2008. Celt Boxing Club and USA Boxing present CELT FIGHT NIGHT.

From the same organization that brought you Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Evander Holyfield, and Oscar De La Hoya, USA Boxing has a rich tradition of grooming some of the most renowned athletes of the world has ever seen. The next boxing superstar may certainly be making their appearance in the squared circle when Celt Boxing Club (Students of Crespi Carmelite High School) takes on gladiators from Panther Boxing Club (Students of Duke Ellington and Washington Prep High School), Grace Boxing Club (Students from Antelope Valley High School), Al & Day Boxing Club (Student from Lancaster High School, Riverside County Boxing Club (Student from Ellsinore High School), and Pacoima Boxing Club (Student from Pacoima High School).

In the Main Event, Super Heavyweight shining star and Celt Boxing Club’s own Karim “The Dream” Williams will take on Panther Boxing Club’s Mike Lester in a three round battle that will put a combined weight of over 600 pounds in the ring. In what is certain to be a war of power and determination, this fight could be a sign of promising things to come for the real heavyweight division, and may prove who the best big man in the amateurs is.

When the bell sounds to get this fight underway, Williams, a Crespi High football star, will be moving from the gridiron as a Defensive Lineman to the squared circle where he promises to lay his opponents on their backs. Williams is a ring warrior that any fight fan must see, and after June 13th, people throughout Southern California will remember the name Karim “The Dream” Williams as a powerhouse amongst the super heavyweights.

On the undercard, Randy “The Rhino” Reiner from the Celt Boxing Club and Chris Johnson from the Panther Boxing Club will square off in a middleweight duel, while the Celt’s Jimmy “Slim Jim” Barber and Grace’s Michael Reyes lace up the leather one more time against each other in a rematch to settle the score.

Also, on CELT FIGHT NIGHT are twelve other bouts that are certain to delight fight fans as the future of the fight game will be showcasing their talent and making their mark in the amateur world as they climb their way up to superstardom.

This exciting night of action begins at 6:00 p.m. with the former heavyweight champ James “Lights Out” Toney making a special appearance to support the fighters of tomorrow.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 818-268-8957 or e-mailing your request at celtboxing@yahoo.com. Floor Seats are at the low price of $20.00 ($25.00 after June 1st), while General Admission seats are $10.00 ($15.00 after June 1st).

  • Chris Billam-Smith vs Ryan Rozicki 03/06/2026
Chris Billam Smith fighting for Zuffa for the first time this Saturday. I think he is being set up to face Jai Opetia later in the contract. CBS became world champion when more talented British boxers like Okole and Riakporhe did not. In fact he beat both and forced them to go up to heavyweight. Chris got easily beaten by Zurdo in a unification and we all kn […]

  • Where does Usyk go from here? 27/05/2026
For once, I’m totally on board with the WBC. WBC moves to shut down Usyk-Verhoeven rematch talk I personally have NO wish to see a rematch between Rico and Usyk. Call it defensiveness of our sport. Just like I thought Fury’s narrow escape against Ngannou was cringeworthy… I also feel a sense of dread that we came “this close” to having a kickboxer defeat the […]

  • Why was Usyk so bad? 27/05/2026
What was the major factor for Usyk to perform so poorly against Rico? Rico better than expected, skilled kick boxer, huge size, awkward style, surprise element? Age of Usyk finally showing up? Jai Opetaia Says Boxing Rewards Talk More Than Skill This has long been a thought of mine, but of course it’s always refreshing when an actual boxer says it. It could be speculated that at some point Jai could follow t […]
