Let’s Get It On Boxing: Undercard Announced For “International Affair” June 13

ByBoxing Press 04/06/2008

Several local emerging stars are set to appear on the “International Affair” under card headlined by USNBC titlist Jesse Brinkley, and Canadian light-heavyweight champion Jason Naugler. The card is scheduled for eight exciting fights and the Hinkey brothers look to be challenged against undefeated opponents.

Middleweight Derek Hinkey, 4-1 (4) of McDermitt, NV is being billed as the co-main event on June 13. Hinkey is still looking to rebound from his knockout loss suffered in Reno this February.

He was scheduled to fight in Boston on May 17, but saw his fight fall through when his opponent was switched to fight in the card’s main event when one of its principals’ pre-fight EKG returned abnormal. Hinkey is more than eager to return to the ring. His bout is scheduled for six rounds and he will be facing unbeaten Gabriel Gil, 3-0 (1), from Madera, CA.

The younger – but bigger – Hinkey brother, Tyler, 3-0-1 (2), is coming off of a four round unanimous decision victory in Boston on May 17. Set again to fight in a four-round heavyweight bout on June 13, he has been training harder than ever.

Tyler is scheduled to fight Michael Finny, 1-0 (1), out of San Jacinto, CA. Hinkey and Finney have a common opponent in Travis Biechler. In February, Hinkey knocked out Biechler in 2 minuets and 41 seconds of round one. Finney got the job done slightly quicker by scoring a knockout against Beichler in 2 minuets and 18 seconds.

Making his pro debut as a heavyweight is Reno native Chad “Chadillac” Forrester. Chadillac is no stranger to fighting, but will be making his first appearance ever in the ring on June 13. After graduating from Reed High in Sparks, Forrester spent many years working as a bouncer for local nightclubs and bars – a job where getting into the occasional brawl is simply an occupational hazard.

Until about two years ago, Forrester had other bouts – with drugs and alcohol. The boxing gym became a detour from those problems, and with the natural talent that he possessed, Chadillac made the decision to become a prizefighter. Chadillac is scheduled to fight Michael Goins, 0-1, out of Las Vegas.

In an East vs. West matchup, local middleweight Flavio Cardoza, 1-2, of Carson City is set to fight undefeated Mark “The Italian Bazooka” DeLuca, 5-0 (3), from Boston, MA. DeLuca is coming off of a four-round unanimous decision win on May 17 in Boston against Anthony Osbourne while Cardoza is coming off of a knockout loss in February against top West-Coast prospect Brandon Gonzales. The Cardoza/DeLuca bout is scheduled for 4 rounds.

Also added to the card is an accomplished amateur welterweight from Carson City, Jose “Chuy” Elizondo. Chuy feels now is the time to make his debut as a professional after much success in the Silver Gloves, and other national and international boxing tournaments.

As a third heavyweight bout Lovelock native Alfred “Little Bum” Happy, 5-0 (4), has been added to the International Affair under card. This 6 foot 8, 300 lb heavyweight was also a star basketball player in high school. Happy’s management team is looking to keep him active and winning, and is pleased that he is able to fight in Northern Nevada for the first time. Happy’s bout is scheduled for 4 rounds.

Mongolian super-bantamweight Batkhuu “Batman” Otgonchuluun has been added to “International Affair”. Otgonchuluun is an amateur champion in boxing and kickboxing. Living and training in the States with Nonito Donaire Sr., father and trainer of world champion Nonito Donaire Jr., this world class fighter is looking to be the next Asian sensation of boxing.

Negotiations are nearly complete with opponents for Elizondo, Happy and Otgonchuluun.

All bouts will take place at the Reno Ballroom in downtown Reno. “International Affair” is being presented by Let’s Get It On Promotions in association with the Silver Legacy and Eldorado casino/resorts.

Tickets are available now by calling the Silver Legacy at 800 687 8733 or at ticketmaster.com. Ticket Prices are $25, $50, $100, $150. Doors open at 6pm, first bout at 7pm. All bouts are subject to change.

Chris Billam Smith fighting for Zuffa for the first time this Saturday. I think he is being set up to face Jai Opetia later in the contract. Chris got easily beaten by Zurdo in a unification and we all kn […]

  • Where does Usyk go from here? 27/05/2026
For once, I’m totally on board with the WBC. WBC moves to shut down Usyk-Verhoeven rematch talk I personally have NO wish to see a rematch between Rico and Usyk. Call it defensiveness of our sport. Just like I thought Fury’s narrow escape against Ngannou was cringeworthy… I also feel a sense of dread that we came “this close” to having a kickboxer defeat the […]
