Super middleweight Fawaz Nasir, 13-2 (8), and super featherweight Kim Poulsen, 8-1 (1), are sweating it out in the gym with trainer Brian Mathiasen, working towards fights in July.
Manager Henrik Risum is currently waiting for the last pieces of the puzzle to come together before hopefully announcing bouts for the two Danes inside the next couple of weeks.
“It looks like Fawaz will get an excellent opportunity in a very significant fight, the most important of his career so far, and if everything goes according to plan it should be signed sometime next week,” said Risum, who handles Nasir in cooperation with Fight Production in Germany. “We are just waiting for the contract”,
Poulsen was pencilled in to fight in Belgium on June 7, but that bout was scrapped when the whole card got cancelled. He has stayed in the gym hoping for action to come his way sooner rather than later, and he will now likely be featured on the undercard of Nasir vs. TBA.
“It is very important for Kim, and me, that he fights in July now that the June date didn’t happen,” said Risum.”It is very difficult to set up fights during a summer which has the European football championships, the tour de France and the Olympics, so we are crossing everything possible to cross that everything works out for July.”
Additionally, Risum is hoping to soon announce a title fight for Kenyan stylist David Kiilu, 28-8-2 (15), who returned to the ring in May after a layoff due to injuries.
