Salem New Jersey Hosts First Boxing Show June 21

The city of Salem, New Jersey will be making history on June 21, 2008 when it hosts itʼs very first fight night, headlined by home town favourite Mark ʽOaktreeʼ Brown, 12-1 (5), in a heavyweight bout against Ralph ʽWild Wildʼ West, 17-13-1 (14), from Jamboree, Kentucky at Campbell Fitness Centre at 118 Walnut Street.

This match up has all the ingredients to be a classic. Brown will be determined to continue his undefeated run in front of his home town fans, especially after his magnificent performance against Kevin Hood back in January this year.

West is determined to get back to winning ways after being knocked out by Sherman Williams when they fought for the WBF intercontinental and NBA Heavyweight titles last year .

The Fight Night Productions promoted ʽHistory In Our Cityʼ event undercard features another battle royale, this time in the light heavyweight division, when Alfred Kinsey, 6-2-1 (3), from Atlantic City takes on Baltimore, Maryland native Willie Williams, 10-2 (2). Fireworks are expected in this bout as both Kinsey and Williams are determined not to break their current unbeaten runs.

This event also features a light welterweight match that sees the professional debut for Philadelphiaʼs first lady of amateur boxing, Faatimah Balmer, who has a magnificent 43-6 (14) amateur record, against Haitian born Melissa ʽGuard Your Grillʼ St Vil, 0-1, from Brooklyn, New York.

This should be one seriously good fight as Melissa will be looking to secure her first pro win after just losing out on her debut to Olivia Fonseca by a very close points decision, whilst the talented Faatimah will be looking to establish herself as a star of the future in the pro-ranks.

Another ʽJersey Boyʼ on the undercard is light middleweight Alex Sanchez, 1-0 (1), from Camden who takes on Philadelphiaʼs Ardrick Butler, 0-1 (0).

Also on the bill is another Philadelphian, middleweight Roberto Burgess, 4-1 (2), whose opponent will be announced shortly.

Tickets are $75 VIP, $50 Ringside, $30 General Admission and are available by calling 1-856-392-3087 or 1-609-247-3867.

Doors open 6pm – first bout 7pm.
