Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora, WBC Super Welterweight Champion opens his training camp to media later this week as he finishes preparations for his September 13 rematch with former two weight world champion Vernon Forrest. First gaining notoriety on “The Contender” TV series, Mora wasn’t taken seriously by the boxing establishment and the media build up to Mora vs. Forrest I featured Forrest giving Mora absolutely no respect and promising to knock out “The Latin Snake”.
The pair originally waged an intense battle in June and Mora shocked the veteran Forrest as the two-time world champion couldn’t keep up with Mora, who pulled away with a majority decision victory at the Mohegun Sun Casino. Mora-Forrest II, a 12-round co-featured bout to the highly anticipated Joel Casamayor vs.Juan Manuel Marquez showdown, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Tournament of Contenders, Gary Shaw Productions and Fight Knight, LLC.
Casamayor vs. Marquez – “The Challenge”, a 12-round bout for Casamayor’s Ring Magazine World Lightweight Championship, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Romanza Boxing and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate, Cazadores Tequila andSouthwest Airlines.
The scheduled bouts will take place on September 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View, beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Tickets are priced at $300, $200, $125 and $75 are on sale and may be purchased at any MGMGrand box office outlet and all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations (select Smith’s Food and Drug Centers andMacy’s West at the Fashion Show Mall).
