The highly anticipated IBF Super Middleweight title showdown featuring Lucian Bute, 22-0-0 (18) vs. Librado Andrade, 27-1-0 (21), will be available to 14 million households throughout the United States.
InterBox has reached an agreement with the prestigious Showtime Network for it to broadcast the Bute vs. Andrade world title fight live from the Montreal Bell Centre on Friday, October 24.
Showtime’s decision to broadcast from Montreal constitutes a first in the history of Quebec boxing. “We are honoured at the interest that Showtime has demonstrated towards this fight, as well as towards Lucian Bute and InterBox,” states Sportscene Group President Mr. Jean Bedard.
“The eagerly anticipated Bute/Andrade bout has aroused the emotions of all sports fans throughout Quebec, and we wanted to go even further by attracting a major international television network. This was our priority, and we can say that our mission is accomplished.”
Mr. Gordon Hall, Showtime’s Vice President of Production states the following: “We are extremely excited to come to Montreal to showcase this world title on Showtime. We pride ourselves on giving our audience the best fights and Bute vs. Andrade is a good style matchup which promises to be an action packed fight and one you won’t want to miss”.
A few boxing writers in America had expressed their disappointment that the Bute vs. Andrade fight would not be televised in the United States, including the reputable Dan Rafael of ESPN. InterBox and Showtime have put those feelings to rest.
ShoBox: The New Generation will broadcast the Bute vs. Andrade bout live, as well as the semi-final bout scheduled for 10 rounds, starting at 11 PM EST.
Due to the semi-final and main event bouts getting underway later than usual, InterBox has rescheduled the Gala to start at 8PM instead of 7:30 PM.
