Daniel Scoops Top Honour at Boards Awards

Daniel Dubois was named ‘Boxer of the Year’ at the British Boxing Board of Control awards luncheon on Sunday.

The 27-year-old heavyweight was recognised for his achievements across 2024, a year in which he became IBF Interim world champion for overcoming the previously unbeaten Filip Hrgovic in Riyadh as part of Queensberry’s 5 vs 5 success over Matchroom, before subsequently being upgraded to full IBF champion.

Then, in September, came his triumph over Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium in front of a record-breaking 96,000 fans in a first defence of his belt.

Daniel’s trainer, Don Charles, was named ‘Trainer of the Year’ in recognition of his work steering the heavyweight champion to the pinnacle of the division.

Another Queensberry heavy, Fabio Wardley, was honoured with ‘Fight of the Year’ for his epic original encounter with Frazer Clarke back in March, which resulted in a split draw. Fabio emphatically prevailed in the rematch via a first round stoppage.

Congratulations to Daniel, Don, Fabio and all the other winners.
