Risum Boxing: Christian Bladt Defends WBO Intercontinental Belt Against Sven Paris

WBO # 10 welterweight contender and former European champion, Christian Bladt, 34-10-1 (10), will defend his WBO Intercontinental title for the first time on November 28, when he takes on Italian challenger Sven Paris, 24-3-1 (16), in Frosinone near Rome on a show promoted by Conti Cavini Boxe.

Contracts are signed, and the bout has been approved by the WBO, the Italian boxing federation as well as the Danish Professional Boxing Federation. Bladt was originally supposed to defend against another Italian, Michelle Di Rocco, but when Di Rocco pulled out Paris accepted the bout instead.

The Italian is coming off a victory over “Contender” reality-show participant Freddy Curiel in May, while Bladt also last boxed in May, winning the title with a sixth round stoppage of German Norman Schuster.

The Dane is a well-known name in Italy, as he won the European title back in 2002 beating then reigning champion Alessandro Duran. And should he beat Paris too, Bladt has his eyes set on current European Champion Rafal Jackiewicz.

Agent Henrik Risum reveals that Bladt vs. Paris has been “a done deal” for a couple of weeks, but that an official announcement hasn’t been possible earlier as the date had to be finalized.
