European Boxing News: Sahin, Gomez, Virchis, Inkin, Zuniga, Calzaghe, Zapata

With Julia Sahin´s fight off Universum´s show at the Color Line Arena - seating 7000 people for this event - is down to "only" 82 rounds of boxing with four twelve rounders scheduled.

Highlight of the show must be the WBC Heavyweight eliminator between Vladimir Virchis and Juan Carlos Gomez - a fight that goes ahead about 8 PM. Nicaraguan Rene Gonzales begins the show at about 6 PM and takes on Frenchman Mohamed Benbiou. Universum have also announced that Denis Inkin vs Fulgencio Zuniga is now for the "full" WBO Super Middle title as Joe Calzaghe has finally let go of the crown he held for so long.

Polish lightweights Dariusz Snarski and Matt Zegan clash for the vacant BBU title on November 7 in Wieliczka. The fight will take place in an old mine a few hundred metres underground. Tom Boxing Team promotes the show.

Enad Licina, from=2 0Bosnia but based in Germany and one of many talented cruiserweights in the Sauerland stable, goes for the vacant IBF Intercontinental title against American Otis Griffin on October 4 in Bamberg on the undercard to Abraham vs Marquez.

Vincenzo Rossitto and Lubos Suda fight for the vacant European Union cruiser title on December 19 in Siracusa, Italy with Rosanna Conti Cavini promoting.

Luis Martinez Zapata has passed away at the age of 83. Although never a pro, Martinez Zapata rates as an all-time great in Spanish boxing winning the European title, a number of national championships and international tournaments.
