Golden Boy Boxing: Alvarez vs. Mosley At Morongo Casino October 24

Golden Boy Promotions returns to the Morongo Casino Resort and Spa on Friday, October 24 for a hard-hitting night of professional boxing showcasing some of the best young talent in the sport. In the 10 round welterweight main event, Mexico’s latest sensation, unbeaten 18-year old Saul Alvarez, makes his United States debut against skilled veteran Larry Mosley and Juarez, Mexico’s Antonio Escalante hopes to move closer to a world title shot when he takes on once-beaten stylist Mike Oliver in an intriguing ten round junior featherweight contest.

A pro since the age of 15, Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico’s Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, 21-0-1 (15), has been learning on the job for the last three years with impressive results. He has shown maturity beyond his years en route to 21 wins and just one draw. The current WBA Fedecentro Welterweight Champion is a hard hitting youngster that is sure to be a hit with U.S. fans on October 24.

Larry Mosley, 15-2-1 (6), was one of this country’s most decorated amateurs and just missed making the 2000 Olympic team. As a pro, he has shown flashes of brilliance and is now back in the ring after a two year layoff, looking to put his substantial talent together for a run at the welterweight title in the coming years.

Antonio Escalante, 17-2 (11), a fighter boxing fans can’t get enough of hopes to deliver the goods again on October 24. Winner of four in a row, including a recent third round TKO of David Martinez in May, the Juarez native knows that his dream of a title shot is approaching, but that it will only arrive if he is victorious later this month.

The slick style of southpaw Mike Oliver, 21-1 (7), brings to mind another wizard of the ring from Connecticut, the legendary Willie Pep. While Oliver hasn’t reached the heights achieved by the Hall of Famer, Oliver’s wins over the likes of Gary Stark Jr., Cruz Carbajal and Al Seeger have shown that a bright future certainly awaits “The Machine” if he stays on a winning track.
