It’s one of the most intriguing world title fights of the year and Canadian fight fans will get a chance to see it all take place, live on Super Channel.
Live from the Trent FM Arena, in Nottingham, England, on December 6, Montreal’s Jean Pascal, 21-0 (14), and hometown hero Carl “The Cobra” Froch, 23-0 (19), will put their legacies, reputations, and dreams on the line for a shot at world boxing glory, in a toe-to-toe battle for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight title.
“We are delighted to be partners with Super Channel for the English broadcast in Canada of this tremendous fight,” Promoter Yvon Michel said of the Hennessy Sports promoted main event. “Super Channel has become the place that real fight fans turn to. And I know that on December 6 they’ll see a great bout, and a superstar in the making in Jean Pascal.”
Michel’s counterpart for this fight, Hennessy Sports’ Mick Hennessy, feels that this is the chance for Froch to both make a name for himself on a worldwide basis, and to claim his first world title.
“Carl is truly one of the best fighters at 168 lb, and he’s been waiting a long time to get his world title shot. Fighters from Jermain Taylor to Denis Inkin to Joe Calzaghe have avoided him like the plague,” Hennessy said. “So full marks to Pascal for stepping up, but this is Carl’s moment, and he’ll make the most of it.”
“Super Channel is quickly becoming the Canadian home for championship boxing,” said Sandy Perkins, Super Channel’s Vice President Programming. “The Pascal-Froch fight promises to cement our status as Canada’s premiere boxing network.”
As evidence to Super Channel’s stature, Perkins points to the recent broadcast of Vitali Klitschko’s stunning performance against Sam Peter to capture the WBC Heavyweight Title, and Chad Dawson’s convincing vanquish of IBF Light Heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver.
The action gets underway Dec. 6 on Super Channel at 4 p.m. Eastern, 1 p.m. Pacific.
