There were three good cards over the weekend with the biggest show on Saturday at the Orient Theatre in East London, South Africa where domestic Light Flyweight Champ Mfundo Gwayana, 10-3 (5), kept his title with a fifth round TKO of Welkom man Motswaki Moseslesele, 5-1 (2), who suffers his first loss since turning professional 14 months ago.
On Friday in Johannesburg, WBF Light Fly supremo Muvhuso “Hands of Thunder” Nedzanani, 21-1-3 (12), won a ten round non-title affair by outpointing Filipino visitor Marvin “Leyte Bomber” Tampos, 17-9-2 (12), over ten rounds.
In Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, local luminary Alexis Boureima Kabore, 8-0 (2), won his first title with a hard fought 12 round decision against Ecuador’s Rafael Tirado, 22-6-3 (14), to capture the vacant WBA Pan African Bantamweight crown.
