David ”Silent Danger” Kiilu, 29-9-2 (15), will move up to lightweight and take on former European title-challenger Dariusz Snarski, 26-28-2 (6), in a twelve-rounder on December 14 in Bialystok, Poland.
Manager Henrik Risum considers this fight “a great opportunity” for Kiilu, but also as a bout he must win if he wants to stay in the frame for another significant fight in 2009.
“Absolutely this is a fight David must win unless he wants to go through a long rebuilding faze,” said Risum after announcing the fight. “It’s at lightweight, yes, and David is normally only a feather or super feather, but he has fought at lightweight several times before, and Snarski is not a very big guy so I don’t see that as being a problem.
“It won’t be easy because Snarski is much better than his record suggests, but I expect David to win, and then we look at the possibilities for 2009.”
Kiilu last boxed on October 20 when he won a decision over Tanzanian Hamis Ajali, while Snarski lost his last bout on points, an eight-rounder for the Baltic title against former WBO world-title-challenger Matt Zegan.
Before that, Snarski had won six straight fights and captured the WBF International title as well as the Polish International strap. He is also a former IBF Intercontinental champion, and has been in with some of the biggest names in Europe as well as future world champions Stefano Zoff, Robbie Peden and Alex Arthur.
