IBF Boxing Champ Steve Cunningham To Guest Appear In Reading
After completing the final day at training camp for his fast approaching title defense against Poland’s Tomasz Adamek at the Prudential Center in nearby Newark, NJ., IBF Cruiserweight Champion Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham is to make a guest appearance at the “Pounding on Penn Street” card at the Sovereign Center, Reading, PA. on Friday, December 5.
Taking a few moments out from his daily workout ritual, Steve said, “I’m really looking forward to these fights. Rock, Cesar, Lucian, these guys are all guys I consider my friends and they’re all exceptional fighters.I know it’s gonna be a great night and I’ll be there front and center to take it all in.
“Cesar has been giving me some good rounds in preparing for my fight on the 11th. He should be ready for his fight.â€
The ten round main event on the “Pounding on Penn Street” bill will feature undefeated Philadelphia welterweight
Mike Jones, 15-0 (13), against tough Mexican Luciano Perez, 16-8-1 (14).
Jones recently won the vacant NABF welterweight belt with a sixth round knockout over Juliano Ramos on August 29 at the New Alhambra in Philadelphia.
The night’s co-feature will be 2004 Olympian Rock Allen, 13-0 (7), from Philadelphia against an opponent to be determined.
Also featured will be undefeated junior welterweight Jason Cintron, 9-0 (2), of Reading, featherweight Lucian Gonzalez, 8-4-1 (1), and cruiserweight Julio Cesar Matthews, 5-0 (4).
In addition, Philadelphia junior middleweight Latif Mundy will face an opponent yet to be determined, and Paul Fernandez of Philadelphia will face Puerto Rican native Esteban Rodriguez of Lebanon, PA in four rounds of featherweight action.
