Top lightweights Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz will meet this week at a press conference that announces their mouth-watering IBO title clash, scheduled for February 28 in Diaz’s hometown of Houston, TX.
Marquez, 49-4-1 (36), has held the WBA, IBF and WBO titles at featherweight and the WBC title at super feather. The 35 year old is coming off an 11th round stoppage of Joel Casamayor at lightweight in September.
Diaz, 34-1 (17), is a former WBA, WBO and IBF Lightweight titlist. The 25 year old is coming off a split decision victory over Michael Katsidis for the vacant IBO Lightweight belt.
The pair will meet at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX on Saturday, February, 28, 2009.
