A thrilling light middleweight bout has been added to the Chris Edwards vs. Wayne Bloy British and Commonwealth Flyweight Championship bout this Friday, January 23 at Fenton Manor in Stoke, England.
Undefeated Kevin Hammond will drop down from middleweight and face a more seasoned opponent in the form of fast-handed boxer Jimmy Doherty.
28 year old Hammond, 4-0-1 (1), brings an exciting style to the contest and is well known for the pressure he brings to bear upon his opponents. The stocky hard man from Lincoln must win this contest if he is to continue his promising rise among the ranks of one of Britain’s most competitive divisions.
But he will have to solve the problems posed by his much taller opponent as Doherty, 8-1 (0), has proven his skills under fire and will have the advantage of fighting in front of a packed hometown venue.
Just 23 years of age, Doherty has already rebounded from his only career loss and has vowed to put Hammond on the scrap heap in what is sure to be a barnburner for all eight scheduled rounds.
