Risum Boxing can now confirm that the twelfth professional fight for Danish lightweight prospect Kim Poulsen will be April 5 on a show promoted by Amadun Boxing at the Universal Hall in Berlin, Germany.
No opponent has been selected yet, but according to manager Henrik Risum, the bout will be contested over six rounds.
“Kim was presented with a relatively big challenge last time out against WBU Intercontinental champion Nugzar Margvelashvili and I am not sure it will be possible to secure an equally seasoned opponent for his next fight,” said Risum.
“Many factors are in play, but I am a believer of making fights with a purpose, fights that help educate the boxer in one way or the other, so hopefully we can line up someone where Kim is presented with a new challenge.”
Poulsen, 10-1 (1), is always in the gym and has not allowed himself to get out of shape since his last outing on November 26 in London, and regular sparring with the likes of former European welterweight champion Christian Bladt has kept him sharp and motivated.
“When we get to April 5, it will have been just over=2 0four months since the Margvelashvili fight, and of course it is not ideal to go too long between fights,” said Poulsen. “But when I look at how long most Danish professionals go without fighting, I really cant complain, and four months is not that bad.”
Having just turned 22 years old, Kim Poulsen potentially has many years in front of him in the prize-ring. But no matter who is in the opposite corner on April 5, a victory is a must if he wants to continue to be considered one of Denmark’s brightest hopes in professional boxing.
