Risum Boxing: Danish Golden Boy Poulsen Destroys Pudler In Berlin

The question was never if Kim Poulsen would win Sunday night in Berlin Germany, if he didn’t it would more or less end his career as a serious prospect, but more how he would win, and how he would cope with the pressure of fighting a Berlin-resident in his back-yard, with the expectations of an inside-the-distance victory hanging on his shoulders.

According to manager Henrik Risum, the fight was made to help develop Poulsen mentally and add another layer of experience to his arsenal.

And The Danish lightweight delivered to perfection, knocking out Tom Pudler in the first round with a peach of a right hand to the jaw. Pudler went down like a log, and never looked like he would get up. He was counted out flat on his back after one minute and fifteen seconds.

“As we see it, Kim’s trainer Brian Mathiasen and I, moving Kim along is like painting a picture,” said Risum. “You add a little here, add a little there, put some colour on certain places, remove something elsewhere, and everything at the right pace, until hopefully one day you have the best finished result you can possibly get.

“Tonight the challenge was mentally, and Kim did everything right from the start and proved to be a total professional. We won’t get carried away with the result, but we will praise him for doing exactly what was expected of him”.

With the victory, Poulsen moved his record to 11-1 (2), and stays in Berlin for a short Easter vacation with girlfriend Anne, before returning to continue his education in the game of professional boxing with Mathiasen in Aarhus.
