Boxing In Germany: Sturm, Balzsay Put World Titles On Line In Krefeld

Tonight, the big action in Germany takes place at Konig Palast in Krefeld as WBA Middleweight Champion Felix Sturm and WBO Super Middle Champion Karoly Balzsay return to the ring.

Sturm, 31-2-1 (13), is looking to make the sixth successful defense of his belt when he meets Japan’s Koji Sato, 14-0 (13).

28 year old Tokyo man Sato has KO’d all but one of his opponents to date but the reigning OPBF king has yet to face anyone near Sturm’s ability.

Sturm should win this one but will have to be at his jab and move best to keep big punching Sato from connecting with anything significant over the course of all 12 rounds.

Speaking of bomb throwing opponents, Karoly Balzsay could have his hands full tonight when he steps into the ring against former WBA Middleweight titlist Maselino Masoe.

29 year old Hungarian southpaw Balzsay, 20-0 (14), shocked Dennis Inkin in January to win the WBO belt and will be the much younger man against 42 year old Masoe.

Despite his advanced years, New Zealand slugger Masoe remains dangerous if he can land flush shots but as has been shown throughout his career, a sharp boxer can outpoint him.
