Amari Jones vs Vincenzo Gualtieri Weigh-In Results: Tension Builds Ahead Of San Jose Showdown

Main Event Official After Jones And Gualtieri Hit The Scales

Friday night’s Golden Boy card at the SAP Center in San Jose is officially set after fighters made weight ahead of the DAZN broadcast, and there was a confident mood throughout Thursday’s weigh-ins.

Main event fighters Amari Jones and Vincenzo Gualtieri both looked sharp on the scales before their IBF middleweight eliminator, while the co-main event between Robin Sirwan Safar and Yamil Alberto Peralta brought some genuine back-and-forth between the two cruiserweights.

The official weights confirmed all the featured bouts are ready to go

Main Event

Amari Jones (16-0-0) came in at 159.2 pounds for his 12-round IBF middleweight eliminator against former world champion Vincenzo Gualtieri (25-1-1), who weighed 158.2 pounds.

Gualtieri stepped onto the scales carrying a German flag and looked completely calm throughout the face off.

“Tomorrow I wanna show what I’m all about,” said Gualtieri. “I plan on winning anyway possible.”

Jones received a strong reaction from the crowd and looked fully comfortable under the spotlight ahead of the biggest fight of his career.

“It means a lot fighting here and it’s gonna be lights out and a hell of a night of boxing,” said Jones.

The unbeaten middleweight also sounded convinced this is his time.

“I’ve proved my skills already. I’m young and hungry. He has had his time and I belong here. I wanna show the kids anything is possible and I’m here to inspire.”

There’s definitely confidence on both sides, but the contrast was interesting. Jones brought energy and emotion. Gualtieri looked like a man who has already seen these moments before.

Co-Main Event

The WBC Silver cruiserweight title fight between unbeaten Robin Sirwan Safar (19-0-0) and Argentina’s Yamil Alberto Peralta (18-1-1) is also official after Safar weighed 199.2 pounds and Peralta came in at 199 pounds.

Both fighters looked in excellent shape and clearly enjoyed the verbal exchanges during the face off.

Safar confidently declared: “I’m gonna do my job, cook my opponent and eat him. It’s the Rob show tomorrow.”

He then added: “He’s a puppy.”

Peralta fired straight back with a smile.

“Looking at him, he’s already eaten,” joked the Argentine before promising to put on a show and thanking his sponsors.

The fight itself has the feel of one that could easily overdeliver.

Featured Undercard

John Ramirez officially weighed 114.8 pounds for his super flyweight clash with Argentina’s Lucas Emanuel Fernandez, who was scheduled to weigh in later.

At middleweight, Jordan Panthen (11-2-0) came in at 159.8 pounds, while Jean Rivera-Pacheco (10-2-0) weighed 159.2 pounds.

Rivera-Pacheco attempted to intimidate Panthen during the face off, but Panthen barely reacted and looked relaxed throughout the exchange.

Super middleweight contender Darius Fulghum (14-1-1) weighed 168.8 pounds for his fight with Miami-based Yoanki Urrutia (17-2-0), who came in at 169.8 pounds.

Fulghum received one of the louder reactions from the crowd during the weigh-ins and sounded ready to put on a show.

“This division is wide open for the taking,” said Fulghum. “I’m gonna bring the pressure and entertain the fans tomorrow night.”

Cruiserweight Tristan Kalkreuth (16-1-0) weighed 198.2 pounds, while Mexico’s Marco Canedo (8-3-1) came in at 199.6 pounds.

Kalkreuth looked fired up while speaking to the media afterwards.

“I’m excited and ready to put on a show,” he said. “They may hate me or love me, but I’m never boring.”

He also made it clear he has bigger targets in mind beyond Friday night.

“I’m after the big names out there.”

On the preliminary card, Fresno prospect Jordan Fuentes (6-0-0) weighed 117.2 pounds for his super flyweight bout against fellow 20-year-old Dante Evana Hemandes, who weighed 118 pounds.

Fuentes sounded genuinely excited about making his DAZN debut.

“First time on DAZN, feeling blessed and gonna go out and give a good performance.”

Meanwhile, Anel Dudo weighed 126.8 pounds for his four-round super featherweight fight against Jose Medrano Jr., who came in at 127.4 pounds.

Final Thoughts

The weigh-ins had a little more personality than usual and several fighters looked genuinely confident heading into Friday night.

Jones and Gualtieri both appeared composed, Safar and Peralta clearly enjoyed trading shots verbally, and younger fighters like Fuentes looked fully aware of the opportunity in front of them.
