Tommy Fury vs Eddie Hall Preview: Beauty vs The Beast Heads To Manchester
Love it or hate it, people are going to watch this one.
Tommy Fury and Eddie Hall headline a DAZN PPV card in Manchester, bringing together two names who pull attention well beyond the usual boxing crowd. Purists will roll their eyes, casual fans will tune in anyway, and somewhere in the middle sits a fight that is genuinely awkward to call because of the size difference.
The card also has a run of crossover names, debuts and lower-card fighters looking to make something happen while the spotlight is there.
Main Event
Tommy Fury vs Eddie Hall
Tommy Fury should be the cleaner boxer here. That much is obvious. He has the sharper movement, the better boxing habits and the experience of being under this kind of attention before.
But Eddie Hall is not turning up to outbox him over eight neat rounds. Hall’s danger is simple: he is huge, powerful and awkward. If he can make it messy, lean on Fury, crowd him and land something heavy, then suddenly this gets interesting.
That is the hook of the fight. Fury is supposed to win, but he has to stay switched on. Hall only needs one mad exchange to make the whole thing look very different.
Co-Main Event
Anthony Taylor vs Matt Floyd
Anthony Taylor faces Matt Floyd in the co-feature at light heavyweight.
Taylor is used to this world now and usually brings plenty of noise with him. Floyd comes in as the unknown, which always adds a bit of curiosity. Taylor should know how to handle the occasion better, but debutants on these cards can be hard to read until the first bell goes.
Key Undercard Fights
Brandon Scott vs Brendon Davis
Brandon Scott meets Brendon Davis in another light heavyweight bout. Both men will look at this as a chance to get some momentum in front of a bigger audience than usual.
Charlie Cox vs Baffour Boateng
Charlie Cox makes his debut against Baffour Boateng at heavyweight. Boateng has already had that first night under the lights, and that can matter when the other man is still finding out what the pro ring feels like.
Non-Title Undercard
Adam Brooks takes on Rahim Amer in a light heavyweight contest.
Arabella Amblea Del Busso faces Andy Nguyen at super bantamweight.
Sheena Bathory and Christina Flanagan both make their debuts at welterweight.
Abdel Karim El-Madani meets Luke Nevin in a four-round light heavyweight bout.
Jack Kay faces Jordan McCann, with both men making their debuts at light heavyweight.
Jade Jones takes on Federica Riccio at welterweight.
Final Thoughts
Most eyes will be on Fury and Hall, and that is fair enough. It is the sort of fight people pretend they are not bothered about, then end up watching anyway.
If Fury keeps it tidy, he should be able to box his way through it. If Hall drags him into a rough one, then the night could get very strange very quickly.
