Baltimore Boxing: Stevenson vs. Dunham July 25

ByBoxing Press 07/07/2009

Junior Middleweight prospect James “Keep Em Sleepin” Stevenson 9-0 (8 KO’s) of Baltimore, MD will look to keep his flawless record intact as he will lace up for a rematch with confident challenger Ken Dunham July 25 the Du Burns Arena.

An elite talent in the Beltway area, Stevenson is starting to create a major buzz in the boxing world. Dunham 6-8 (4 KO’s) of Charlotte, NC is looking to avenge his loss earlier this year and will have a wave of confidence when he enters the ring.

On June 5, Dunham impressively stopped previously unbeaten hometown favorite Lenwood Dozier in Westminster, MD.

The eight round co-feature will put Baltimore welterweight prospect Tim “Pit Bull” Coleman 15-1-1 (4 KO’s) in a rematch against the extremely underrated “Magnificent” Martinus Clay of Philadelphia.

Coleman, whose only loss came via a razor-thin unanimous decision on Showtime, got back on track with an impressive stoppage in April.

With arguably the most deceptive record in the sport at 13-20-4 (5 KO’s), Clay has duked it out with heralded pugilists including James Kirkland, Mike Jones, and Andre Berto, among many others.

In 2006, the brawny Clay scored a victory over 34-1 Matt Vanda and fought to a draw with unbeaten contender Harry Yorgy. Clay and Coleman battled to a hotly contested draw in 2007, which immediately prompted talks of a rematch.

Cruiserweight prospect Steve “Show Stealer” Wheeler 2-0 (1 KO) will battle the ever famous TBA in a four rounder. The Catonsville, MD native has looked solid in both of his professional bouts.

Heavyweight Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell 12-0-1 (7 KO’s) of Brandywine, MD will appear in a six round special attraction bout against an opponent to be named. A former star linebacker at Michigan State University, Mitchell is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

Heavyweight prospect Maurice “Freight Train” Byarm 2-0 (2 KO’s) of Washington, DC by way of Philadelphia, PA will duke it out with Wilson, NC’s Maurice Winslow 3-9 (3 KO’s).

The cement-fisted Byarm will have his hands full as Winslow owns a victory over former world champion Boone Pultz.

Former amateur star Daniel Kooij 3-0 (1 KO) of Baltimore by way of the Czech Republic will tangle with North Carolina’s Octavius Davis 2-2-1 (1 KO) over six at cruiserweight. Already on the fast track, Kooij defeated grizzled 38 fight veteran Hilario Guzman in his pro debut this May.

Individual tickets are priced at $35, $50 and $75. VIP mini-tables are available for $375 to seat 5. Reserved tables to seat 10 are $500. VIP tables of 10 are available at $750 for second row seating and $1000 for front row. All VIP ticket holders receive free cocktails and Hor’dourves.

Tickets can be ordered by calling 410-675-6900 or 410-375-9175.

The Du Burns Arena is located at 1301 S. Elwood Ave in Baltimore. Doors open at 6:30 and the opening bell is at 8 p.m. Baltimore Pro Boxing is the promoter.
