Rooney’s Boxing Gym: SpiderBaby To Play Judgement Day II Afterparty

ByBoxing Press 22/11/2009

Without doubt one of the most exciting and truly talented British bands to hit the music scene for a long, long time, “SpiderBaby”, are to take some time off from recording their latest album, to headline the after-show party of the mega London boxing show Judgement Day II at Cable, Bermondsey Street, London SE1 on Wednesday 25th November.

The outrageous Electro Glam-Punk Rock outfit, which now includes the incredibly gorgeous former Page 3 model Francesca Santamaria sharing vocal duties with lead vocalist Shannon Lee, will be showcasing some of their new tracks including performing their planned new single, the hauntingly erotic ‘Baby Doll’, as well as some of their classic tracks such as Scream, Crucify and Nymphos.

The buzz around SpiderBaby from the underground media has been nothing short of phenomenal. A prime example being cult lifestyle magazine Plastic Venus whose recent feature on SpiderBaby stated. “Trying to distinguish oneself from the myriad of bands and musicians, is always a difficult feat. More so today, than in the past where any band with computer access is capable of putting their material online. But every now and then comes a band that is capable of emerging from the masses, distinguishing themselves with their innovative music and undisputable talent.

SpiderBaby is the answer to anyone who’s been waiting for an electro-punk band to arise. Its members, Shannon Lee, Francesca Santamaria, and Nathan James, put the glitter in punk leaving you with the feeling of wanting to party rather than depress you with sappy ballads as latest bands to come out of the U.K. seem to have done. With songs like Teenage Odyssey and Love Buzz SpiderBaby are more intent to bring you up rather than bringing you down.”

With such praise, as that from Plastic Venus, it should come as no surprise that SpiderBaby have attracted an A-list celebrity following, that includes Nirvana/Foo Fighters/Them Crooked Vultures Dave Grohl and Razorlight front man Johnny Borrell, who is rumoured to be guesting on one track at Judgement Day II.

It’s not just the celebs that have taken to SpiderBaby. Back in October, at The Gaff on Holloway Road in North London, the new SpiderBaby line-up of Nathan James, Shannon Lee and Francesca Santamaria debuted in front of packed house of metal heads. To say their awesome performance brought the house down is the understatement of the year. By the end of the set everyone, and I do mean everyone including the most ardent heavy metaller, was converted and screaming for more.

For Judgement Day II the organisers, Rooney’s Boxing Gym, have joined forces with Revolver Entertainment to present a glittering night of top class Boxing as well as a special screening of “Tyson The Movie” Platinum Knockout Edition. In addition to the pugilistic arts on display Judgement Day II will also feature a unique homage to the World of Boxing by Burlesque star Miss Gigi Ramone.

Following the non-stop ring action attendees of Judgement Day II will be treated to the after fight party of all time. Headlining the very special after-show will be none other than the awesome , and truly outrageous, Glam Rock band SpiderBaby, who will be taking some time off from recording their new album, which is due out early in 2010, especially to perform at Judgement Day II.

Judgement Day II will be held at the Cable Club, Bermondsey Street Tunnel, London SE1 3JW on Wednesday 25th November 2009. Doors open at 7.00pm.

Tickets for Judgement Day II are priced £30.00 (unreserved) and £50.00 (V.I.P.) and are available from Rooney’s Boxing Gym, 895/896 Holyrood Street, London SE1 2EL or call 020 7403 6113 or on the door from 7.00pm

Entry for the Judgement Day II after fight show only, featuring SpiderBaby, is £5.00 on the door from 10.00pm
