For more than nine months, Vivian Harris has been vocalizing his views and thoughts about particular fighters, and also about the situation he has found himself in, which is that he hasn’t been able to land a meaningful fight with one of the many top contenders in his weight class. Despite all the criticism he has |
faced for being vocal, Vivian is determined to be seen as well as heard. Showing up ringside, and at press conferences are some of a few things that Harris has felt he had to do in order to be recognized and noticed by these fighters, basically campaigning himself, letting it be known that he is not a runner, but ready, willing and able to fight! In speaking with Harris, I’ve come to the realization that this young man is not only ready, but hungry for the opportunity to showcase his talent and skill to the rest of the boxing world, for goodness sake, he is a world champion, and in his words: “I don’t want to talk about it, just be about it!”
On June 25, Vivian will have the opportunity to show off his skills against Arturo Morua in a fight that will be a co-main event to the Mayweather-Gatti fight, and as stated by Harris, “there’s even talks of the possibility for a fight with Mayweather.” Whether or not the fight between Mayweather and Harris will ever happen, Harris is willing to take on all comers, but first he has to handle the situation at hand, training hard and making sure he is ready for whatever comes on June 25, in Atlantic City.
When asked about his training regimen, he says: “I take fights seriously,” working out with eighteen-ounce gloves and hitting sixteen-ounce speed bags, six days a week, not to mention running and calisthenics. No doubt, a serious workout for a serious champion. His approach to his occupation of being a fighter might cause fans and the media to have preconceived opinions of him, but once you get to know Vivian Harris, you learn to understand just how passionate and confident this twenty-six-year-old champion truly is about the sport he truly loves!
He knows he is one of the best fighters in his weight class, and in boxing, because he believes in himself, and does whatever it takes to get the job done. All he wants to do is fight the best and to prove that, he is willing to handle every opponent that comes his way and hope that the best in the fight game today stand up and truly be the champions and world class fighters that they proclaim to be.
SaddoBoxing would like to thank ‘Vicious” Vivian Harris for taking time out of his busy schedule to talk about his aspirations for the fight game. Keep checking back for future updates from world champion “Vicious” Vivian Harris!
