Hatton Boxing: Rob Norton vs. David Dolan Rematch Jan 15 In Manchester

Rob Norton will mak the second defence of his British Cruiserweight title, and the first of his Commonwealth Cruiserweight title, when he faces David Dolan in a highly anticipated rematch on January 15th.

The rematch will go out live on Sky Sports’ Friday Fight Night as Hatton Promotions once again return to Altrincham Leisure Centre in Manchester.

The contrasting styles of southpaw Norton, and that of former amateur star Dolan, produced a thrilling encounter earlier this year as the pair shared a total of five knockdowns, with Norton eventually retaining his British title by unanimous decision.

30 year-old Dolan looked to be on his way to victory putting Norton down twice in round four but a spirited fightback from the champion, putting Dolan down in the sixth and eleventh, helped him to the hard fought win.

Dolan however will be hoping to repeat the success he had in Manchester in 2002, when he won a Commonwealth Games gold medal by defeating David Cadieux of Canada.

The undercard will also see another exciting rematch as Cello Renda and Paul Samuels meet again in a ten round Middleweight bout.

In one of the fights of 2009, which featured an amazing double knock-down, Samuels prevailed by stopping Prizefighter finalist Renda in the third round.

In another Eliminator, this time at Welterweight, Mark Thompson will take on Kevin McIntyre. Thompson last fought on Hatton Promotions ‘Wigan Warriors’ show on November 27th spectacularly stopping Danny Parkinson in the first round.

McIntyre, meanwhile, is a former British Welterweight titleholder, defeating Kevin Anderson for the belt in 2007 before losing it to Kell Brook in 2008.

Also on the bill, Dezzie Higginson will face Martin Gethin over ten rounds for the English Lightweight title and there will be débuts for Stephen Foster Jnr. and Craig Lyon under the Hatton Promotions banner.

Undefeated Lyon will look to continue his run of success in his first eight rounder whilst Foster is a former British titleholder and faced Alex Arthur in a pulsating contest two years ago for the interim WBO super featherweight title.
