Who is as American as apple pie? What exactly is “The American Dream”? On any given day The American Dream definition changes depending on who you ask. No matter what the answer, there seems to be one thing in common, “work hard and you will get your rewards”.
Unfortunately, the stories that generate headlines are the ones involving the bad boys of the world. It seems that in todays news “drama sells” & “good guys finish last”! These concepts directly oppose what America, & the American Dream prides itself to be.
However, the story of Boxer “Fast” Eddie Chambers exemplifies the American Dream. If that dream remotely consists of struggle, hard work, success, failure, more hard work, & opportunity, then Fast Eddie Chambers story is the blueprint.
The boxing world is filled with different characters. There are men who come from challenging impoverished backgrounds who just want to fight. Then there are the people who want to take advantage of them. Eddie Chambers grew up in these same environments. Fortunately Eddie chose a different route.
Initially, Eddie used the boxing gym as a way to stay in shape. However, in an effort to help support his family, Eddie turned pro at an early age. Not long after, Eddie started to grow a true passion for the sport. While his passion and focus increased, so did the challenges around him. He would learn quickly that you are only as good as your company you keep.
Word gets to a well respected boxing promoter / trainer Rob Murray Sr. that there is a chubby kid in Pittsburgh that might have a future. After seeing Eddie, Rob suggests that Eddie to come to Philadelphia to earn his stripes.
Eddie made a name for himself in the Legendary Blue Horizon boxing venue in Philadelphia. Rob saw a tremendous opportunity with Eddie beyond his boxing skills. His personality and heart gave Rob a real opportunity to show countless people how to succeed the right way. Rob Murray, Sr. & Rob Murray, Jr. felt that with the hardest of work, dedication, & carrying himself in a gentlemanly manner, Eddie will be the example of the next American Champion. A true throwback of the past gentleman boxers.
Team Chambers was born! So very integral in making history, this team includes a group of well grounded family members and close friends. This is a story of a team that goes by their business “The Old Fashioned Way”. With hard work and respect. This story will inspire countless people beyond the boxing industry. The real question is, Can “good guys” truly finish first? Fast Eddie Chambers can’t wait to answer that question for the world on March 20, 2010.
