Shamone Alvarez: I’ll Beat Alexis Camacho!

In an exclusive ringside interview with Saddoboxing at the Jones-Bruseles fight card at Bally’s, welterweight contender Shamone “The Truth” Alvarez 20-2 (11) predicted victory over upcoming opponent Alexis Camacho 17-2 (16) on the Tropicana Casino’s fight card on March 6. The card was rescheduled due to being snowed out last month.

“It’s nice to be able to fight at home,” noted Alvarez “I’m not going to let anybody use me as ‘just an opponent’ now.”

Alvarez spoke of his love of family as giving him motivations to fight. “I have a newborn daughter, I have a girlfriend, I have another daughter, nephews, cousins, and I have family.” Alvarez continued. “I’m looking for an NABO belt or the IBO Intercontinental belt held by Roman Seliverstov of Russia.”

“I see me beating Camacho. It won’t be easy for him to hit on me. My jab is most important to winning this fight. I’m just getting back to the old Shamone,” said Alvarez. “I’m a whole new person. Camacho’s not going to run. I think he’s going to try to make me fight. I’m able to get him. I’ve done a lot of sparring with guys like him.”

When asked about the month lost due to rescheduling the fight card, he commented “The delay? I wasn’t disappointed. I have more time to prepare. I had to slow things down. I have a newborn baby-my second daughter. That’s all the reason to win.”
