Battle of Chicago Quotes.

ByBoxing Press 22/05/2005

Lamon Brewster.

They can’t see me. When God is with you they can’t take it away. If we can’t work and make it we can still take it.

Andrew Golota was the only thing keeping me from the land of milk and honey. I’ve got more than just heart – I’ve got skills. I was an F-16 and he was a B-52 bomber and I shoot him down.

I’m not saying I’m great but there was Lennox Lewis and before that there was Mike Tyson and now there’s me. I need to stand up and be a great champion. I’m here to stay.

I studied Golota’s tapes. He keeps his hands high and I knew he would be susceptible to my punches.

I was lost after Bill Slayton died but I found my way back to Jesse Reed.

I went over to St. Sabina School earlier this week and I knew they were praying for me and they come from where I come from, so I had to win for them.”

Andrew Golota.

“I understand why the had to stop the fight, but I wanted to continue. I cannot believe this happens to me every decade (Referring to Lennox Lewis stopping Golota during the 1990’s), maybe its time for me to think about leaving boxing.

I prepared for this fight since the beginning of the year and I cannot believe it is so quickly over.”

Tomasz Adamek.

“This was my best fight ever. Briggs was a strong, tough fighter but I was never going to give up.

I know I made my country and family proud.”

Paul Briggs.

“I felt I rocked him every other round. I caught a lot of his power shots with my gloves. He was a good fighter he put together good combinations.

Of course I thought I won but that’s the way it goes. It was a fair decision.”

Alejandro “Terra” Garcia.

“I have been inactive for a while and that’s why I could not close the show earlier. My pride made me pull this off.

I promised to finish this fight before ten rounds and I did it. I dedicate this fight to my loving aunt Olga Garcia who passed away last November.

I want to fight Cory Spinks because he said he was going to move up in weight. I would also like to fight Daniel Santos or any other top challenger. I showed my promoter Don King that I am skilled and strong, I just need more fights to be in the top of the boxing world.

Wells moves a lot, he is a good puncher, but he can not handle my power. I was never hurt and I knew it was a matter of time until I drop him for good.”

Rhoshii Wells.

“I didn’t like how the referee stopped the fight. He should have let it go. I want to fight Garcia for a third time.”

Carlos Baldomir.

“I fought a kid that has a great future. It was a very tough fight, a very impressive fight. I got tired because I have not fought in one year and two months.

I took his punches well and I am extremely excited for this win, I have traveled far to get this chance at the title and I can not stop these tears.

I don’t care who I fight next, bring them on.”

Miguel Rodriguez.

“It was the hardest fight of my career. I knew Baldomir had a great chin and he is a very experienced fighter.

“He was uncomfortable to fight, he never let me set my punches and box the way I know. I tried to pull it off but he was better tonight.”

Boxing icon who KO’d Lennox Lewis set to return aged 61 to continue 41-year sequence | talkSPORT I actually fact-checked this to see if it was true. Yeah, the guy fought as recent as June of last year, but c’mon… I then looked into who was sanctioning these fights and found that it’s an org by the name of BIBA (British & Irish Boxing Authority). In fact, […]
