Dmitriy \”Star of David\” Salita Shines at the Manhattan Center.

ByKatrina Walters 10/06/200512/05/2013

“It was a great pleasure to fight for you and I will continue to please the fans.”–Dmitriy Salita offering thanks and promising great things.

In his first ten round outing, Dmitriy “Star of David” Salita shone like a true star last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom in the Manhattan Center. He literally broke down Louis Brown, systematically popping that stiff left jab all night long, bobbing and weaving Brown’s right

jabs and counter shots, targeting his bloody nose until the fight ended in the eighth round. Brown came out focused and ready, also throwing lots of great jabs, but Salita was just too much, pressuring at every angle and constantly landing that left jab on Brown’s nose all night long. SaddoBoxing had the privilege of speaking with Dmitriy about the fight, the win, and the support he received from his family and his Jewish community that were in full attendance last night. “I feel great! I feel good,” he exclaims, seemingly ready to go another ten rounds. “He brought exactly what I thought he would bring, he’s a really tough guy.”

He sings his praises for his win to hard training, stating, “My win is because of really good training, I watched tapes of my opponent as well.” Even though Salita is an orthodox fighter (right handed) his best punch, in my opinion, is his left jab and when asked about it he proclaims, “The jab, fortunately the jab is the best punch to have, the best punch a boxer can have.”

When asked about the stoppage in the eighth round, due to the amount of blood that was streaming from Brown’s nose, Dmitriy says, “I’m glad the referee stopped the fight when he did, that’s the best thing that could have happened.” He found out later that his opponent’s nose was broken in two places. Dmitriy is as compassionate about his opponents as he is about the sport itself.

On hand were slews of supporters and family from the Jewish community, there to support their local hero. I asked one supporter if he thinks Salita is a star he emphatically, without hesitation stated, “YES, he’s a star!” Dmitriy definitely felt the love. “I fed off the great energy from the Jewish people, it was awesome!” The young contender says, “Thanks for the support and for sticking by me.”

Dmitriy Salita has the goods to become one of boxing’s biggest and brightest stars, and with the support from his community and the rest of the boxing world, he will definitely go far and fast! In closing, Dmitriy has a message for the fans and his Jewish community, “It was a great pleasure to fight for you and I will continue to please the fans.”

SaddoBoxing would like to thank Dmitriy for speaking with us fresh off his win, and promises to keep you posted, step-by-step on the progress of his career.
