Ehinomen \”Hino\” Ehikhamenor: The New Face of the Cruiserweight Division.

ByKatrina Walters 10/06/200510/06/2005

“No one knew about the division until Evander came through and made a name, I can do the same.”–“Hino” Ehikhamenor on being the future of the cruiserweight division.

His name might not have caught on just yet, but when you see “Hino” Ehikhamenor, you see something spectacular. He has the physique, the punching power, the personality and the charisma to carry the cruiserweight division to new heights. A young, fresh face in boxing is always welcome (at least in my opinion), but an energetic, outgoing and powerful contender is something a bit different, especially when the cruiserweight division is in dire need of a spark and flame to catch the attention of the people. “Hino” is definitely the man for the job and he is up for the task. SaddoBoxing had the privilege of speaking with “Hino” immediately following his exciting bout and unanimous six round decision over John Douglas. I asked “Hino” how he felt, seeing as though he looked as if he hadn’t fought just ten minutes prior, “I feel good, I look good and I feel good, I’m the African people’s champ, I knew the fight was gonna be tough, so I prepared for it.” As far as preparing for this fight, “Hino” took his training very seriously, “I trained hard, I stayed away from the women, I isolated myself for a month-and-a-half.” It all paid off. In an exciting but somewhat challenging fight, the African cruiserweight kept his posture and maintained a level head to pull out the win.

When asked about the state of the cruiserweight division, “Hino” proclaimed, “I feel I can take on the top fifteen, but I’m in no rush.” He feels with time and patience he will have his opportunity to take the division and run with it, one day becoming a world champion. “I’m young and in shape, just one day at a time, one fight at a time, moving up in rankings slowly but surely.” With the dedication and focus this twenty-four-year-old has, he is well on his way.

Although Mr. Ehikhamenor is an excellent fighter, he is also a businessman, distributing his line of African clothing and jewelry. A well-rounded fighter and person always makes for a great champion, and “Hino” definitely has the goods. He says, “I’m a businessman, boxing is my passion, but I love to make money, I just happen to know how to box.” But right now, boxing is where it is happening for him, so he is running with it. “I feel I can make it popular (the cruiserweight division), just as Evander did,” he states, “No one knew about the division until Evander came through and made a name, I can do the same.”

With every fight and every opponent, “Hino” Ehikhamenor will be the one to watch in months to come, “I’m bringing a whole new look to the division and to the boxing world, I’m a different kind of boxer!” We will continue to follow this exciting fighter as he embarks on his quest to change the cruiserweight division, and the boxing world, one opponent at a time.

SaddoBoxing would like to thank “Hino” Ehikhamenor for sharing his views on the cruiserweight division, and for sharing with us his own personal goals for himself and the future of boxing.

  • Errol Spence v Tim Tszyu - June 2026 07/04/2026
The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June. Tim did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings. I am concerned that Spence has not fought for years now and having no warm up. This may show that he has not much left and cashing in. Tszyu secured a one-sided unanimous decision wi […]
