“Be careful what you wish for, because you might just get it.” Words that can be duly applied to the current life and times of German middleweight Felix Sturm. Sturm wanted to be involved in high profile fights after he lost a debatable decision to Oscar de la Hoya in June. It is being rumoured that Sturm will get his wish in the New Year as he is being lined up as the new opponent for Felix ‘Tito’ Trinidad. Sturm was mentioned as a viable option for a middleweight title shot at Bernard Hopkins so it seems that he is most certainly stuck between a rock and a hard place. Oscar de la Hoya has yet to make a public statement regarding his definite intentions but Fernando Vargas has signaled that he will return to the ring in the New Year. British middleweight Howard Eastman has also been mentioned as a possibility to face Hopkins and the winner of the impending William Joppy-Jermain Taylor fight will likely have something to say about affairs in the middleweight division.
