Boxing Preview: WBO Champ Narvaez In Action Tonight At Luna Park

WBO super fly kingpin Omar Andres Narvaez returns to action tonight at the famed Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Narvaez, 34-0-2 (19), will be looking to retain the 115 pound crown for the third time after he graduated from a seven year reign as WBO flyweight champion.

The 35 year old Cordoba based southpaw will face the challenge of a much younger rival, Colombian slugger William Urina, 17-1 (14).

The 25 year old from Barranquilla is coming off a loss to Johnny Garcia for the WBC Fecarbox strap in January, in which both men had to climb off the canvas before Garcia won a decision and Urina’s WBO Latino title.

Urina has vowed to bounce back however and believes he has the punch to bother the champion, who is coming off a successful points defense in April against previously undefeated Cesar Seda.

Narvaez has won 20 straight bouts since being held to a draw by Andrea Sarritzu in 2003 and “El Huracan” is the clear favorite in this one.

Several interesting contests are on the undercard, the best of which is a WBA/WBO flyweight title tilt between champion Yesica Yolanda Bopp, 15-0 (6), and hard-hitting Mexican challenger Yesenia Martinez Castrejon, 9-6 (8).

Undefeated super flyweight Roberto Domingo Sosa, 20-0 (12), takes on Santiago Ivan Acosta, 17-7-2 (7), while welter Hector David Saldivia, 37-2 (30), faces Carmelito De Jesus, 14-2 (11), both bouts scheduled for six rounds.
