Froch Defeats Barney.

ByBoxing Press 09/07/2005

Carl “The Cobra” Froch was the star of the show tonight in Nottingham Emgland but Southampton’s Matthew Barney made the home fighter work for his win. In what ended up as a very competitive fight, Froch could not assert himself in the way he would have liked and was unable to force the stoppage he promised on this site earlier this week. In the end, the fight for the British and Commonwealth super middleweight titles owned by Froch went to the sole British judge, being the referee, and the final score was 118-110 in favor of the champion Carl Froch. Barney’s sliiper style gave Froch some trouble but in the end, it is Barney who suffers his sixth professional loss while Froch’s undefeated streak stretches to sixteen wins.

The fight card was promoted by Mick Hennessy.
