Erdei Recovers, Gets Married.

The “Firebird” is now a husband. WBO light heavyweight champion Zsolt Erdei has married his beautiful Austrian girlfriend Arabella this week in Hungary.

Erdei recently canceled his title defense scheduled for July 2nd at Hamburg’s Color Line Arena because of a gastroenteric influenza at the morning of his fight. The Universum Box-Promotion event continued without him, now headlined by undefeated heavyweight prospect Alexander Dimitrenko.

After recovering from his illnes Erdei went back home to Hungary and later started to prepare his wedding.

His fight against Frenchman Mehdi Sahnoune will be postponed to a date later this year. It would be Erdei’s fourth defense of the WBO crown since the 31-year-old Hungarian won the title from Julio Cesar Gonzalez in January 2004. Erdei, 22-0 (13), is the successor of Dariusz Michalczewski as he beat the man who beat Michalczewski and now holds the crown that the recently retired “Tiger” was owning for more than nine years.
