Light heavyweight boxer Clinton Woods, from the ‘steel city’ of Sheffield in England is set to face Rico Hoye of Detroit, Michigan, USA. It has been decreed that the fight will be contested for the now vacant IBF light heavyweight title recently discarded by Glen Johnson, the former Woods’ conqueror who gave up the title to be able to fight Antonio Tarver later this year. Woods’s fourth crack at a world championships after bringing Johnson to Sheffield twice and before that, losing to Roy Jones Jr. in six rounds back in 2002. Hoye recently defeated former champion Montell Griffin to secure his place as mandatory challenger for the IBF belt and now, his chance comes against Woods to become a world champion for the first time at age thirty.
