Heavyweight Prospect Tor Hamer Wins By Knockout

DiBella Entertainment heavyweight prospect Tor Hamer won by second round knockout over opponent Dieuly Aristilde on the undercard of Alex-Perez vs. Francisco Figueroa at BB King Blues Club and Grill on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, in New York City.

Hamer, 29, now 14-1, 10 knockouts, New York City, chased Aristilde, now 9-5, 2 knockouts, a Haitian fighting out of Boynton Beach, Florida, around the ring in the first round. Billed as the ‘untamed beast’ and sporting a long scraggly beard, Aristilde weighed 218 pounds to Hamer’s 233 pounds, but didn’t phase Hamer much.

Hamer looked a bit heavy. His usual weight range is 211 to 222 pounds. Unfortunately for Aristilde, he could not run, and standing in front of Hamer to try and slug it out proved to be a fatal flaw in his fight plan.

Hamer threw a short but powerful right hand to the head which sent Aristilde to the canvas in the second round. Aristilde went down again on wobbly legs, ruled a slip. Finally, Hamer battered Artistilde senseless around the ring with both hands till Aristilde took the full ten count on the canvas in a corner at 2:59 of the second.

It did not appear any one punch did the damage, but an accumulation of head and body shots did the trick. Aristilde did not know how to hold when he got hit, making the bout short.

Hamer demonstrated he is ready for higher level bouts, including perhaps a rematch of his May 2010 split decision loss to 12-0 Florida prospect Kelvin Price.
