The M-150 charity event “Saving the Turtles”, was held on Friday, July 6, at the National Boxing temporary Stadium in Sirinath Nai Yang, Phuket, Thailand, by Songchai Boxing.
The main event featured a clash for the WBO Oriental Bantamweight crown between
champion Puengluang Sor Singyu and challenger Ricardo Rao.
In the first round, Puengluang opened a cut above the left eye of the Filipino challenger before knocking Rao down in the second frame.
In the third, Rao got cut above his right evebrow, causing the referee to stop the action briefly to let the ringside doctor examine the challenger.
Puengluang did not slow down, continuing to attack the Rao without respite until round five, when the challenger’s situation deteriorated to the point that the ringside doctor stopped the fight at 1 minutes, 46 seconds of the fifth.
Puengluang successfully defended his WBO Oriental Bantamweight title.
Female promoter Pariyakorn Ratanasuban, who was awarded the WBO Promoter of the Year for two consecutive years, revealed that boxing fans will see Puengluang defend his title again in Phuket.
Pungluang plans to challenge for the full WBO Bantamweight title in September.
Other fights on the bill: Kwanpichit Sibsamrien Express defeated Noli Morales of the Philippines in six rounds while Bualuang Sor Singyu defeated Saksri Sitkrujeab over eight rounds.
In two female boxing contests, Buangen Kietsombat defeated Napaporn SuperChamp over six rounds and Buakaew Kietsombat also beat Nongbua Mor Burapa over six rounds.
Sainamdoi Sitjadang lost to Baitong Sor Sumalee.
Mr. Surapong Panyavai, County Administrator of Sago District was in attendance at the event, presented by Honorable Promoter Songchai Ratanasuban and Female Promoter Pariyakorn Ratanasuba.
The competition aired live TV on Channel 7 from 15.00 -17.00.
Mr. Prompong Nopparit, Peu Thai Party spokesman is the president, along with HE Surapong Panyavai who is Saku Mayor.
