Former light middle contender Marco Antonio Rubio continues his comeback tomorrow night as the hammer fisted man from Gomez Palacio, Mexico makes a hometown appearance against hard luck journeyman Leon Pearson. After riding a wave of success that included one round anihilations of two good fighters, Fitz Vanderpool and Jeffery Hill, | ![]() |
the fall from grace for the lanky Rubio, 30-2-1 (29), was swift. Kofi Jantuah of Ghana needed just one round himself to do in the Mexican banger and win a WBO eliminator, burying Rubio in the world rankings in the process. Since that time however the power puncher has gotten straight back into the saddle with good wins against JC Candelo, Grady Brewer and most recently the previously undefeated prospect David Toribo last month. Should Rubio continue his fistic demolitions, another big opportunity should be just around the corner but “El Veneno” must realize that being competitive against true top class foes will require substantial defensive improvement.
