Jeter Targeting Mid-Atlantic Ticket Seller Jimmy Lange

Tony “Mo Betta” Jeter will be representing himself and his hometown of Columbia, Maryland as he looks to improve his 14-3-1 professional record against the pride of the Northern Virginia, Jimmy Lange(38-4-2, 25 KOs), in the Patriot Center on the 27th of October.

Jeter may have less experience in the ring then Lange, but he has developed a reputation for the velocity behind his punch. Jeter has accomplished 10 of his 14 victories by knockout, including his latest on September 22nd against Tyrel Brown for the WBC Fecarbox middleweight title.

Jeter’s punching power was officially recognized when Boxing Along the Beltway awarded him the “KO of the Year” for his devastating blow against Keith Gross in a match held at the Patriot Center in 2009.

This headline bout of the Jimmy Lange Boxing event is more then two seasoned fighters looking to improve their records against one another, but more importantly it’s about a cross-state rivalry that is hard to replicate in the sport today.

Both fighters have a lot of pride in where came from. Both still train locally, fight locally, and dominate in their home rings. But on October 27th something will have to give and one of these fighters will have to do something that they have not done in a very long time, conceit defeat.

Another compelling local story on the undercard is that of fighter Jerry Odom, who is making his pro debut at the Jimmy Lange Boxing event.

Odom, only 19 years of age, has had articles written about him in the Washington Post, The Gazette, and Boxing Along the Beltway because of his ferocity inside the ring and the accolades he has attained outside of it.

In just two years Odom has been awarded: The 2012 National Golden Gloves Champion at 178lb (Received the Golden Boy Award for Outstanding Boxer), 2011 USA National Silver Medalist, 2011 National Golden Gloves Silver Medalist, as well as finishing 3rd at the 2012 USA Boxing Olympic Trials.

In just the last 5 years, Jerry Odom has risen from being in a regular occupant in the courtroom and hanging out on the streets of his rough D.C. neighborhood of the Paradise projects, to transforming his life in the NoXcuse boxing gym of Capital Heights, Maryland. Odom has become one of the premier amateur boxers on the East Coast, and looks to continue his success on the professional level against Jason Denson(5-11) of Akron Ohio on October 27th.
