The anticipated fireworks between super middleweight contenders Anthony Mundine and Danny Green never
eventuated at the weigh in for their joint card in Perth, Western Australia today. A pensive Green left a full 45 minutes before Mundine arrived, and seemed to be in business mode. “Thank you all for coming, come tomorrow night I’m gonna let my fists do the talking”, he said to the assembled media and fans. Green weighed in at 77.8kg while his opponent, Mexican Kirino Garcia tipped the scales at 78.84kg.
After a substantial delay, Mundine finally made his entrance and looked trim and sharp at 75.88kg, while
his opponent, stocky New Zealander Rico Chong Nee weighed 76kg even. He then took time to answer questions from media and onlookers, as well as pose for photographs with fans. Mundine appeared confident
throughout, telling those assembled that “I’m the best in the world, I can’t be beat”.
The card will commence tomorrow evening at around 4pm Perth time.
