Boxing Result: Rahman – Toney Ends In Draw, “The Rock” Keeps WBC Title

Hasim Rahman managed to keep his title in Atlantic City last night as the Baltimore man produced his most active performance in years, outworking James Toney, particularly in the last round, to force a draw on the scorecards. The challenger was more accurate in his efforts but one ringside official favored the higher punch output of Rahman, allowing the champion to keep his WBC title on a majority draw by scores of 117-111 and 114-114 (twice). After the fight Toney pressed his case for a rematch while Rahman’s promoter Bob Arum spoke of “The Rock” facing resurrected contender Oleg Maskaev next.
