Friday Night Boxing Roundup

There were some important bouts that took place on Friday night, the most prominent of which was a night of heavyweight action at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut headlined by Samuel Peter’s first round crushing of the seven foot tall Keith Long for the NABF belt. Also on the Duva boxing promotion, heavyweights Brian Minto and Michael Marrone were victorious.

At the 4 Bears Casino in North Dakota, the Peterson brothers, light welters Lamont and Anthony, both won their bouts on a Prize Fight promotion. Anthony gunned down the previously unbeaten Jermain White in the third while Lamont dominated Mario Jose Ramos over ten rounds.

In Port Hueneme, California, undefeated featherweight Jose Aguiniga posted a unanimous decision over Andres Ledesma on a Bring It On Promotion. Aguiniga, fighting as a lightweight, had a tough time with his opponent but pulled away in the later rounds, hurting Ledesma in the eighth and tenth rounds.

In Hartelpool, England, British, Commonwealth and European Super Bantamweight Champion Michael Hunter bashed up Spaniard German “La Cobra” Guartos over three rounds to defend his European title in fine style. On a Matchroom promotion, Hunter canvassed Guartos in the second and third frames before the man from Madrid was unable to answer the bell for the fourth round.
