Guilty Boxing put together another action-packed “Guilty Fight Night” card this past Friday at The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event saw Fillipino super featherweight Czar Amonsot pull out a close unanimous decision over Puerto Rican speedster Jose Reyes. Judges Chuck Giampa and Jerry Roth scored it 96-93, while Dave Moretti had it by a closer 95-94 score.

The fight certainly started well for Reyes who suprised Amonsot and the crowd with a lightning quick two punch combo that put Amonsot down into the ropes, requiring the mandatory eight count from referee Richard Steele. Southpaw Amonsot was more stunned than hurt and fought back well to finish the round, perhaps even scoring a knockdown of his own when Reyes glove
appeard to touch the canvas, but Steele didn’t see it that way. Reyes looked to use his speed in the early rounds to counterpunch the forward moving Amonsot, occasionally switching to a southpaw stance to confuse his opponent. The crowd wasn’t all too impressed with Reyes clowning tactics of arm rolls and foot shuffles, and neither was Amonsot who pressed forward
and got the crowd on his side by landing good shots in the 3rd round and a huge right uppercut in the 4th round. Reyes showed a good chin and did well to stay on steady legs against what was clearly the biggest punch of the fight. The mid rounds were competitive with Reyes trying to box and move around his steady opponent. Reyes did well when he focused, boxed, and sat down on some straight punches and got away from the flashy movement. He had Amonsot frustrated enough at one point in the eighth round to punch Reyes on the referee’s break, causing Steele to take a point away from Amonsot. The fight heading into the 9th round was up for grabs, but the determined Amonsot outhustled a perhaps tiring Reyes in the final two rounds to take the victory.

Amonsot improved his record to 16-1-1(10 KO’s), while Reyes fell to 18-3 (7KO’s).

In the undercard action, an intriguing fight between flyweight’s Along Denoy(13-5, 5 KO’s) and Esau Gaona (12-2, 8KO’s), was stopped short and ruled no contest at 1:14 of the fourth round as a cut over Gaona’s left eye from an accidental headbutt was determined to be too severe to continue. These two crowd pleasing fighters didn’t hold back and were letting their fists fly. Denoy would work the body and punch and land more often, but Goana’s heavier punches would have more effect on his oppoenent. Fillipino southpaw Denoy often came in aggressively with his head down to work Gaona’s body, leading to many head clashes and the unfortunate stoppage.

The fight card also include an entertaining women’s bout, a bantamweight rematch between Albuquerque’s Monica Lovato and local Las Vegan Sharon Gaines. Lovato won the first match in April, by split decision, and would win this bout more decisively with a 4th round TKO stoppage. Gaines fought gamely, trying to keep Lovato at bay with the jab, but Lovato started to take over in the second round with her straighter power punches. Gaines had her nose bloodied and was dropped a couple times, doing well to hang in with her stronger opponent, before referee Kenny Bayless was forced to stop the bout at 1:13 into the 4th round.

Lovato improves to 7-1(4KO’s), while Gaines falls to 9-7(3KO’s)
