Boxing Result: Viloria In Shock Upset Loss

Last night at the Orleans in Las Vegas, WBC Light Flyweight Champion Brian Viloria waited for the perfect punch against challenger Omar Nino Romero but unfortunately for the pint sized body basher from Hawaii, that opportunity never came. After getting handled in the first round, the Guadalajara, Mexico based Romero, who nickname is the “Giant Killer”, simply swept by Viloria in a typhoon of effort and will. Romero kept applying pressure and throwing leather, keeping the normally aggressive Viloria off balance and unable to form an effective offensive strategy. Midway through the bout the champion did attempt to turn the tide in the seventh but Romero could smell the title by this time and wasn’t about to let Viloria back into the contest.

When the dust finally settled, Romero, 24-2-1 (10), was declared the victor by unanimous decision 118-110, 117-111 and 117-112. Viloria, 19-1 (12), suffers his first defeat and immediately called out for a rematch.
