British light welterweight Ricky Hatton became the first man to stop veteran campaigner Ray Oliveira on Saturday night in London, England. Oliveira touched the canvas several times before going to ground one final time in the tenth round citing an ear injury as his reason for being unable to continue, giving Referee Mickey Vann no option but to end the contest. Oliveira holds a win over current WBA champion Vivian Harris and is well known for his massive punch output and work-rate. However, Oliveira was simply outworked by Hatton who looks forward to a possible bout with IBF light welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu.
