Chazz Witherspoon, the “Gentleman” is bringing pride, back to the American Heavyweight

For all you naysayer that think the American Heavyweight is gone, look east to the fighting city of Philadelphia, then look up, at the 6’4”, 240lb up and comer, Chazz “The Gentleman” Witherspoon. This is not your garden Variety fighter. Besides being one of the most exciting fighters in the Gym’s of Philadelphia, he brings an elegance and class, which the division has been missing, for many years.

He was born September 16th 1981, the oldest of three children. His father, a man with honor and integrity, taught him early on, that a man is judged by what he does, and held to what he says, Chazz is an example of what a young man can become, when he is instilled with the values and wisdom, of family. His cousin “Terrible” Tim Witherspoon, took a long hard road to his success in the boxing game, and has past his own knowledge, onto his cousin. Chazz graduated from Paulsboro High school in 1999, with a 3.8 GPA, and a member of the national honor society.

The young fighter’s character showed up very early on, when he was offered 3 division one basketball scholarships, and 2 track scholarships, but he instead chose to pursue his academic scholarship. He very well could have played basketball at St. Joes, but did not want his studies to take a back seat to anything. During his sophomore year, he needed a challenge. With his studies going well, he decided to look at boxing. After all, he had former two time heavyweight champion of the world, Tim Witherspoon as a cousin. Between 2002 and 2004, he very steadily began to get a real grasp of the boxing game. He became an Olympic alternate; he was the 2004 golden gloves winner, beating all his opponents by KO, which was never done before. He turned pro in 2004, and finished his degree in Pharmaceutical Marketing in 2005.

Chazz has a professional record of 14 – 0 with 8 KO’s. It seems as if he is getting better with every fight he takes, and his power is becoming more evident. His last fight was a 2nd round KO of Innocent OTUKUWU at the Blue Horizon in Philadelphia. He has teamed up with his new Promoter, and cousin, Tim Witherspoon, for a fight October 14th at the National Guard Armory.
