Boxing News: Robbie Peden responds to team Pacquiao

ByBoxing Press 12/10/200612/10/2006

Robbie “Bomber” Peden was amused when he first read the press release from Bobby Pacquiao’s Management team (yes that’s right all 3 of them) which boldly stated “Our promoter Top Rank was unable to reach agreeable terms” ! The facts ; Your promoter was unable to reach the phone and return calls left trying to make this fight culminate. Their reference to going to purse bids with the possibility of the fight being staged in Australia was nothing more than us showing our willingness to fight him anywhere – anytime. Neither Bobby Pacquiao’s Promoter or management squad made a purse offer thus our offering to stage the bout in Australia. Their press release should have read “Bobby is scared of the Bomber” therefore won’t be available to fight him in an official eliminator.

Speaking from his hometown in Brisbane Australia the Bomber had this to say about Pacquiao’s management squads press release.

“I have declared myself available to anyone rated suitably to participate in an Eliminator since early this year. Alex Arthur didn’t want to know anything about me – nor did Manuel Medina. Then I’m told were down to Bobby Pacquiao and his promoter wont even return calls and wouldn’t make an offer. Just so everyone is aware “I will fight anyone – anywhere – anytime in an official IBF eliminator” I have been waiting for this to culminate and no one wants to fight me. When I read that Top Rank was unable to reach agreeable terms it makes me sick in the stomach – Let me get this right “A boxer who has left the ring 13 times a non winner and requires a squad of 3 people to manage him doesn’t want to participate in an official World Title Eliminator”. This is not a boxing team “It is a circus”. The facts are Bobby is scared of me – why else would he not want to fight me ? Doesn’t he want to become world champion ?

Peden’s manager Stuart Duncan confirmed Pedens availability stating he has been willing to fight anyone anywhere. Bombers 2 losses in the last 5 years have been against Champions Marquez & pound for pound rated Barrera who he took the distance. He desperately wants to regain his title and is doesn’t care who he has to fight to get a shot at it. This year we have tried Yodasannan 3K Battery – Guzman – Arthur & Pacquiao – all to no avail. Guzman had an excuse, what about the others ? I am surprised that between Pacquiao’s 3 managers – not one of them was aware of the facts behind a potential showdown with Bomber. If they were they wouldn’t make such stupid comments. To agree on terms there has to be an offer ? No offer was tendered on their part. There was talk of making it happen at the Orleans 2 days prior to Manny’s bout on Nov 15 as “plenty of Philippino’s would be in town” – but they stated they couldn’t get a Vegas site. Interestingly enough he is now facing Velazquez at the Hard Rock Hotel in (you guessed it) Las Vegas. Who’s bullshitting who here ? Fact – Bobby is scared of the Bomber!

  • Chris Billam-Smith vs Ryan Rozicki 03/06/2026
Chris Billam Smith fighting for Zuffa for the first time this Saturday. I think he is being set up to face Jai Opetia later in the contract. CBS became world champion when more talented British boxers like Okole and Riakporhe did not. In fact he beat both and forced them to go up to heavyweight. Chris got easily beaten by Zurdo in a unification and we all kn […]
