Collins, Conroy Lead Irish Squad In Kiev AIBA World Championships

Martin Collins and Sean Conroy will be the first two Irish boxers in action at the AIBA World Junior Championships in Kiev, Ukraine this weekend.

Collins and Conroy will be between the ropes in the afternoon session on Sunday. Boxing begins at 12pm (Irish time).

Former European schoolboy champion John Joyce, who has been named Irish team captain, has received a bye into the last 32.

The St Michael’s Athy man meets Cuba’s Yoelvis Diaz, who also received a bye.

Limerick’s Cormac Long is in against Russia’s Rustan Ibraikhaliev.

The opening ceremony for the 2013 AIBA World Junior Championships will be held at 5.30pm this afternoon. (local time).
