“The Wallasey Express” Added To Coldwell Manchester Show

Last month’s Coldwell Boxing event at Deeside marked a successful return to the ring for “The Wallasey Express,” Stevie Williams.

After making a failed attempt to wrestle the Lonsdale belt from Bristol’s Darren Hamilton early last year, Williams has endured a turbulent and barren spell that has seen the Merseyside man endure several injuries.

Now fully healed, Williams is ready to be thrown straight back into title contention and new manager, Dave Coldwell, believes his man has what it takes.

“I was impressed by Stevie and the way he went about his business,” buzzed Coldwell. “He was in there with Kevin Macaulay and Kevin is a tough guy who knows his way around the ring but Stevie was still able to drop him in the opener.

“The vital thing was getting Stevie some much needed rounds because he’s had a lengthy spell out so it was important that he shook some ring rust off and was able to feel himself again. He’s a tough lad with plenty of hunger so I know what to expect from him. It’s just about getting him back into that fighting groove and then we can move from there.”

Next up for Williams is another outing on Coldwell Boxing’s “Feel the Noise” which lands at Manchester’s Bowlers Exhibition Centre on June 21. Williams will participate in another contest as he works his way back into the valuable rankings of the national 140 lb division.

“There’s no rush with Stevie but he’s certainly someone who we want to see fulfilling his potential because he’s a title level fighter already. The last year has been a hard time for Stevie and that’s why I can’t rush him just yet but I’m very tempted to get him in for some sort of title because I know he wouldn’t let anyone down. We’ll have another look at him on June 21st then hopefully we can start taking bigger strides with him.”

Coldwell Boxing proudly presents “Feel the Noise” on June 21 at the Manchester Bowlers Exhibition Centre. Some of the finest Northwest talent, including two time British title challenger, Stevie Williams, and red hot Macclesfield prospect, Liam Hanrahan, will be in action. Tickets are available from www.coldwellboxing.com and the event will be shown live in its entirety on the excellent Coldwell Television App.
